Into every person there is beauty.
Into everything we do we leave a mark.
We make good and bad decisions.
We make friends and enemies.
We ask questions and solve problems.
Life changes us, for the good and the bad.
So may things in this life that we want to do
and so many things that we want to undo.
But everyone think of this,
Life is a precious gift.
Live your life and experience the dream.
Only you can make it happen.
Only you. -Shiela Lorenzo-

LIFE in my SHOES...being ME...SHY... Emmeline Aglipay during the nominal voting on the RH Bill on December 12, 2012

Speech of Rep. Emmeline Aglipay during the nominal voting on the RH Bill on December 12, 2012

DIWA Party-list votes Yes.

The RH Bill is not about our own religion but about the obligation of the state to its citizens regardless of religion. And I believe that the State has an absolute obligation to protect and respect a broad spectrum of reproductive health rights for every citizen.

The essence of the RH Bill is informed choice by making RH services and information available to all, most especially the poor.

The RH Bill does not require anyone to behave in a manner that is against their conscience.

Couples can decide freely which family planning method to use or not to use any to begin with. There is no ideal family size imposed on them and they have the right to decide the number and spacing of their children or not to have children at all.

Parents retain control of their children’s access to RH education and they can even avail of the “opt-out provision” and decide that their children will not go through RH education in schools.

Sectarian schools are accorded the flexibility in teaching RH education.

Hospitals run by religious groups are exempted from the obligation to offer modern family planning services.

Health care providers can refuse to give RH services or information that go against the religious beliefs. So much so that the RH Bill makes room for non-compliance due to conscientious objection like no other law ever has.

All the RH Bill does is to enable Filipinos with fewer resources and those in the far-flung rural areas access to services and information that they would otherwise be deprived of.

The RH Bill is necessary because today’s status quo is simply unacceptable: individuals are limited in the exercise of their reproductive health rights not due to their personal choices, but because of a lack of information and resources. To allow this to continue is to promote ignorance instead of empowering our people. To reject this bill is to discriminate against the poor instead of advancing social justice.

I just want to make it very clear Mr. Speaker, that I am not against life—I am against ignorance!

I vote yes to the RH Bill.

We invite you to be a part of PUSONG PINOY. Join us in reaching out to disadvantaged children in the Philippines.

These are children who have never seen a picture book in their life or those who attend schools with minimal or no library facilities.

Those who are school-aged children and still can’t read. Children who walk for miles, rain or shine, to attend school with having only one meal a day. Let’s provide these kids the books and food they need.

Dr. Jose Rizal once said, “The youth is the hope of our future.” If you believe this, please support our projects and the organizations that provide education and assistance to these kids.

It started as a simple idea… Donna Bernardo Rosario of California wanted to teach her son, Noah, how to be compassionate and generous by starting a book drive. The target goal was 2,000 gently-used Preschool to Grade 4 books to be collected and sent to established organizations in the Philippines who help underprivileged kids. She posted a message on her Facebook account asking for book donations. She received an overwhelming response and that’s how PUSONG PINOY started.

Since its inception on May 21, 2009, there are now over 36,000 likes on Facebook and over 34,000 books collected and donated to recipients. 1. Follow traffic rules. Follow the law.
2. Whenever you buy or pay for anything, always ask for an official receipt.
3. Don’t buy smuggled goods. Buy Local. Buy Filipino.
4. When you talk to others, especially foreigners, speak positively about us and our country.
5. Respect your traffic officer, policeman and soldier.
6. Do not litter. Dispose your garbage properly. Segregate. Recycle. Conserve.
7. Support your church.
8. During elections, do your solemn duty.
9. Pay your employees well.
10. Pay your taxes.

Lets be honest, when it comes to us ladies clearing out our wardrobes is one of the hardest things we do, most of us harbour items of clothing, shoes, bags and accessories that haven’t seen the light of day for ages.

As the saying goes…It’s a tough job - but someone’s got to do it…sadly that person is me…I try to sort out my wardrobe in THREE’s…

…3x a year…

round 1: around the months of March or April

round 2: August or September

round 3: December

…3 categories…

box 1: keepers

box 2. to be sold

box 3. to be donate

…and I keep Von (my hubby) close-by…he has to be at home when I do my clear-out. You might be asking why on earth would need my husband when I do my clear-out…well he is no fashion expert but he reminds me to be disciplined, gives me will power and a good dose of honesty when I do my clear-out…

…discipline in actually sticking on what is planned

…will power of not taking back stuff from box 2 and box 3

…honesty…being real that I may never wear or use the stuff ever again…this is Von’s speciality, he would always give verbal cues that it’s time to let go and say goodbye to my stuff…at times he can be quite blunt and brutal…especially when I am being stubborn.

…its sad to say goodbye with my stuff, but at the end of the day I always feel relieved that I have given my wardrobe a good detox.

"…I’m thankful for a pair of shoes that feel really good on my feet; I like my shoes. ..."

“…I’m thankful for a pair of shoes that feel really good on my feet; I like my shoes.
